The Oaks Driving Club Show

The Oaks Driving Club Show on Sunday 12th August at Broad Farm, Hellingly, East Sussex

August 15, 2018

I was delighted to be invited to The Oaks Driving Club’s Show to photograph all of the day’s action. We had a great day for it with the weather being kind to us and the rain managed to hold off until the evening.

I am not normally an event photographer but I had a wonderful day...  though it was exhausting running between the two rings all day trying not to miss any of the classes… managing to take more than 1000 images!

This was the first year that the Club had held the in-hand and ridden sections in addition to the driving classes and most classes were well-attended and everyone enjoyed the day.

Helen & dun Shetland.jpg

Helen and her lovely dun Shetland had a great day out, seen here being presented with the trophy for winning one of the private driving classes.

Tina & tandem pair.jpg

Tina also did well, winning the Multiples class with her lovely tandem pair.

Brenda & chestnut pony.jpg

Brenda also qualified for the championship with her lovely little chestnut pony.

Steven & MM chestnut.jpg

At the end of the day, the Driving Championship went to Steven and his stunning Welsh Section D – winner of the driven Mountain and Moorland class.  This beautiful horse also won under saddle in the Ridden Mountain and Moorland class with Julia demonstrating how versatile some of these horses can be.

Kym & roan Appaloosa.jpg

Kym won the Best Turnout out with her roan Appaloosa.

Kerry & Welsh Sec D.jpg

In Ring Two, Kerry with her beautiful young Welsh Section D won the Mountain and Moorland in-hand class and won a free photograph from Pony Portrait.

Rosie & brown Shetland.jpg

Rosie’s little brown Shetland with two front white socks moved beautifully to win the in-hand championship against the stiff competition from Kerry’s Welsh Section D and Gemma’s Haflinger.

Sisters & Shetland.jpg

These two girls and their gorgeous Shetland caught everyone’s attention in the in-hand and lead rein ridden classes.  They were so proud to receive their rosette from the judge, Elizabeth Howe!

Lauren & coloured cob.jpg

Lauren’s beautiful coloured cob with his long flowing mane won both his classes and went through to win the ridden championship at the end of the day too.

As you will no doubt see, there was an array of equine friends at the show – different breeds, shapes, sizes, colours and characters… but all looking fabulous and I had a fantastic time capturing all of the action.

If you would like to purchase any images please email pippa@ponyportrait.com to discuss requirements.

Well done to Laura and Judi for some great rounds at a rather wet and windy Golden Cross BS Show today.
Merry Christmas!
Great morning at Golden Cross yesterday. Well done to the team from Starnash.
An action shot from Felbridge arena eventing on Sunday
Behind the scenes at Felbridge NSEA. Well done to the Eastbourne College team for winning the County Championships on Saturday.
The beautiful Troy at my visit to @starnashfarm last week. The rainy weather didn't stop me and instead moved to inside for photos where I was able to capture some lovely head shots of the horses over the stable doors.
A few weeks ago Tiger Lily had a session with equine therapist, Elaine Mariani. The session was great for loosening up Tiger Lily's muscles and joints and making her much more comfortable. Head over to my blog to read all about Tiger Lily's session.
We are happy to welcome this cute Welsh Section A to our stables. She is very photogenic so I hope to post lots more images of her in the future!
Don’t forget with half term coming up this month it is the perfect opportunity to book in a photo shoot with your equine companion!

The beautiful Katie and her Welsh pony Purity.
Katie won her free photo shoot as a prize in the @chiddinglyhorseshow in July. This is her favourite image that she has chosen to have printed and framed.
Beautiful day for the BS Show at Golden Cross today.
