Having been around horses all of my life in one way or another, I very much enjoy keeping my equine knowledge up-to-date and so I recently attended an evening of short talks organised by Cliffe Equine Vets in Lewes. The title of the event was 'The Equine Performance Forum: Optimising Equine Performance for All Levels' and covered topics including soundness, dentistry, nutrition, farriery and saddlery.
It was a very informative evening and the combination of talks, practical demonstrations and Q&A sessions helped ensure the topics were engaging as well as being educational for attendees. Vets from Cliffe Equine (Claudia, Rowena, Heather, Karl and Egbert) were joined by guest speakers Helen Gordon of Baileys Feeds, Saddler Kate Sheppard, Remedial Farrier Richard Chard, Equine Physiotherapist Charly Mustardé and Lesley Scorgie from Sussex EquiFit who spoke about the importance of rider fitness and the use of pilates for riders.
No matter what level of horse owner you were, the evening was beneficial due to the quality of the content and the way in which the information was presented. Attendees were treated to wonderful hot food and refreshments served during the evening and all ticket proceeds were donated to Cancer Research. All-in-all it was a fantastic event and I look forward to more of their events in the future - details of which can be found on the Cliffe Equine Facebook page.
