Side Saddle Portraits of Lauren and Captain Elegance

April 13, 2019

I had a wonderful time last week taking photographs of Lauren and her beautiful grey Connemara aptly named Captain Elegance.  The elegance of this pair made my job of creating beautiful images so much easier than usual.  Lauren looked so graceful riding side saddle in her stunning habit that it was a real pleasure to watch them cantering across the field on a relaxed long rein.

Connemara ponies, originally from the west of Ireland are renowned for their elegance as well as their strength and prowess.  Historically, in Ireland these ponies were sufficiently versatile to work on farms or pull the most elegant of carriages, as well as being able carry their owners all day in harsh conditions. One day I hope to get the opportunity to photograph these beautiful ponies in their natural environment of peat bogs, windswept beaches and rugged mountainous terrain in County Galway.

As with many breeds of native pony, the Connemara ponies have a lovely termperament so make the most wonderful all-round riding ponies for children and small adults. Their jumping ability means that they are regularly seen competing in all disciplines - their popularity has grown and spread all around the world.

I look forward to being able to photograph more beautiful examples of Native Pony breeds over the coming months as part of my Native Pony project. Look out for more updates via my Facebook and Instagram feeds.

Well done to Laura and Judi for some great rounds at a rather wet and windy Golden Cross BS Show today.
Merry Christmas!
Great morning at Golden Cross yesterday. Well done to the team from Starnash.
An action shot from Felbridge arena eventing on Sunday
Behind the scenes at Felbridge NSEA. Well done to the Eastbourne College team for winning the County Championships on Saturday.
The beautiful Troy at my visit to @starnashfarm last week. The rainy weather didn't stop me and instead moved to inside for photos where I was able to capture some lovely head shots of the horses over the stable doors.
A few weeks ago Tiger Lily had a session with equine therapist, Elaine Mariani. The session was great for loosening up Tiger Lily's muscles and joints and making her much more comfortable. Head over to my blog to read all about Tiger Lily's session.
We are happy to welcome this cute Welsh Section A to our stables. She is very photogenic so I hope to post lots more images of her in the future!
Don’t forget with half term coming up this month it is the perfect opportunity to book in a photo shoot with your equine companion!

The beautiful Katie and her Welsh pony Purity.
Katie won her free photo shoot as a prize in the @chiddinglyhorseshow in July. This is her favourite image that she has chosen to have printed and framed.
Beautiful day for the BS Show at Golden Cross today.
