Equine Photography Session - Faye and Bengal

January 13, 2019

This lovely equine portrait session took place in the New Forest last autumn when the colours on the trees were as spectacular as the models!  This was a location rather than a yard session. These can be fun where you don’t feel your stables or field offer a pretty backdrop but can take more effort and organisation to find somewhere suitable. If you have a favourite place that you would like to be photographed in, then please don’t hesitate to ask when booking your session.

Managing valuable horses like this in a strange environment and asking them to stand around while having their photograph taken can sometimes be a challenge. Faye’s beautiful dressage horse Bengal handled the session wonderfully and did whatever was asked of him – he was a real gentleman. Faye was obviously very competent at handling her horse from the ground – for many children this is not something they have much experience of so safety must always come first and having experienced parents around to help at a session is often vital.

Although I primarily specialise in children and their ponies, it is great to get asked to do something different and I really enjoyed the challenge of this session.  Bengal was alert and interested in everything going on around him which was very different to some of the other sessions I have done recently where the biggest challenge is often getting bored ponies to put their ears forward!  In this session it was important to get the image and move on so Bengal didn’t get too restless.

I also enjoyed photographing the dog at this session – another beautiful animal! I will always be happy to include any other animals you may have in the portrait session.

Please remember that I do get booked up well in advance. I have already taken bookings for Easter so am starting to get busy.  Please book as soon as possible if you would like an equine portrait session in the Spring.

Well done to Laura and Judi for some great rounds at a rather wet and windy Golden Cross BS Show today.
Merry Christmas!
Great morning at Golden Cross yesterday. Well done to the team from Starnash.
An action shot from Felbridge arena eventing on Sunday
Behind the scenes at Felbridge NSEA. Well done to the Eastbourne College team for winning the County Championships on Saturday.
The beautiful Troy at my visit to @starnashfarm last week. The rainy weather didn't stop me and instead moved to inside for photos where I was able to capture some lovely head shots of the horses over the stable doors.
A few weeks ago Tiger Lily had a session with equine therapist, Elaine Mariani. The session was great for loosening up Tiger Lily's muscles and joints and making her much more comfortable. Head over to my blog to read all about Tiger Lily's session.
We are happy to welcome this cute Welsh Section A to our stables. She is very photogenic so I hope to post lots more images of her in the future!
Don’t forget with half term coming up this month it is the perfect opportunity to book in a photo shoot with your equine companion!

Katie won her free photo shoot as a prize in the @chiddinglyhorseshow in July. This is her favourite image that she has chosen to have printed and framed.
Beautiful day for the BS Show at Golden Cross today.
